A dress is a quintessential spring/summer fashion piece, which can often take you from day to night. This season there are lots of styles on offer. This article looks at some of the most popular dress trends for spring/summer.
Six popular dress trends for spring/summer:
From chain stores like Victoria’s Secret through to designer ranges, lace is being interjected into many dress styles this spring/summer. Lots of dresses feature all over lace, others feature lace sleeves or a lace panel here or there. The D&G spring/summer collection features lots of pretty lace accents, from touches at the neckline to hem or sleeve hem.
2. Embellished neckline dresses
This spring/summer there are lots of dresses on offer that feature some form of embellishment at the neckline of the dress. Many create a necklace style effect on the front of the dress. Think rows of pearls or beads attached to the front of the dresses neckline. Jeweled halter necks dresses are also popular.
3. Girly floral print dresses
There are lots of really feminine floral print dresses emerging for Spring/summer. You’ll find floral designs that range from cute and ditsy, to styles that are more whimsical, or prairie inspired. Other girly prints like polka dots and butterflies are also popular.
Several designers used lots of texture in their collections for spring/summer, like Badgley Mischka, Vera Wang, and Antonio Beradi. Think three dimensional style petals, and flowers, quilting, and a combination of fabrics that are already textured.
5. Draped and gathered styles
This season draped and gathered dress styles are really popular. Lots of dresses feature sheer chiffon draped and gathered over a base fabric. Often the base layer fabric is in a different color creating a contrast effect. Dresses made from a single layer of fabric with Grecian style draping are also popular, alongside origami inspired folds.
6. White and pale shades
Although there are many bright colors on offer for spring/summer, many runway collections predominantly showcased the little white dress, nude or soft pastel shades. The D&G ready to wear collection was virtually a sea of white. The Ralph Lauren ready to wear collection also featured a good deal of white intermixed with nude and soft tones like baby blue. The feminine designs at Badgley Mischka were a perfect match for a soft palette, and Alberta Feretti also kept things mostly light.
